97-98 heads good or bad?
I have been doing alot of research and have an LS1 that I am swapping into my MonteCarlo SS. I have a question on 98 year cylinder heads. I know 97 and 98 heads are perimiter bolt heads but is that the only diffrence? It seems that the 97-98 year heads always sell for dirt cheap compared to 99-later. I need heads for the motor and an thinking of picking some of these heads up just to get the car together. I will be upgrading the motor in about a year or two anyway. Any input is appreciated.

from wat i know the 98 heads do not flow too good. the 241 or 243 on the 99 on up are the better ones. cause i know what you mean about the 98s goin cheaper. i have a buddy sellin some for like 100.00

If you are going to swap the heads, spend the extra and go with a set of 243 castings. You will see better power gians than simply going to a later set of LS1 heads. We have some great pricing on new 243's. Give us a call if you have any questions.
