Default oil consumption

The engine has used oil since it was put in the truck. first it had a 222/224 cam and now it has a 228r and with both cams it has used oil and alot of it. we had the block honed like .004 or .005 and had some rings file-fit. would that cause the problem or is it something else like the pcv or something?????

Did you check the PCV for oil? Is there a catch can on it? Any white smoke on startup or WOT?

The honing and rings shouldn't matter as long as you got the right rings, right pistons, and decent machine work. The oil rings shouldn't have been filed.

i didnt see any oil in the pcv. no catch can. no white smoke at any time (startup, accelerating, decelerating). machine shop has a good reputation and he used mahle rings. in my eyes, the machine work looked excellent. what if the vent from the valve cover to the intake it too large of a line??? im going to check the pcv again. i did check the map sensor one day for something and it was soaked in oil. i dont want to catch the oil in a can, i want to stop the use of it.

if you shake the PCV valve and it makes noise then its the old design, the new design has a small hole in it and doesn't rattle when you shake it.
