Daily Driver stock verter cam?

I've been looking into the cams but I'm not too sure about anything.
What would be the cam to give me the most hp and still be able to drive around town,
Someone told me I can throw a pretty large cam in there but if I just let off the gas it'll stall out...

Any input, is it worth it to just get a converter and get a bigger cam later on? Anyone have any sites I can read up on

START WITH A CONVERTER!

a cammed car with no verter and likely stock gears if your weary of a converter, woudl feel like a DOG.
