Ticking comes and goes...
First, the background story:
I had been having misfire problems. Flashing SES light, P0300 and P0305 codes. Ended up being the rings in cylinder 5 were gone and it was starting to eat away at the piston. Got that fixed. They had to change the piston, bearings...all the crap you have to change.
What's happening now:
Now, I have a ticking that comes and goes. It ticks a little at start up, but it goes away after about 5 seconds. After that, as long as I drive normally, it acts fine. The minute I get on it (above 4000 rpms), the ticking comes back. It's definately on the driver's side of the engine. However, after about 5 minutes of calm driving, it goes away again. I thought maybe it was a loose rocker arm, or possibly the lifters just needing some time to get pumped back up. I honestly don't know for sure. I'm just wondering what you guys think it should be. The dealership I took it too, act like they want me to pay to have lifters put in. That simply isn't gonna happen. It wasn't ticking when I took it in, why should I have to pay to fix the ticking when I picked it up? Ya know? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
