Default Cam experts inside - What does it take to make 460+HP

This is a sidebar to two of the ongoing threads going on. I am going to quote Julio @ Cartek

We just finished dynoing our latest X package and achieved 474.4 RWHP and 432.2 RWTQ SAE corrected on a 2001 Z06 346 CID with our latest Stage 2-X rev 2 heads. It has a 224-228 .580 lift hydraulic cam, cold air intake, TPIS headers, no cats, stock Z06 mufflers were disconnected at the rear, Sunoco 94, ported stock intake and 3.42s. We also dynoed it with the stock Z06 mufflers and it made 470.0 RWHP and 429.3 RWTQ SAE with no spikes.
The little hiccup between 4000-4500 is me dropping the A/F ratio getting ready for the torque peak.

The flow numbers are as follow.

Lift" Intake Exhaust
.050 41 29
.100 77 61
.150 117 94
.200 152 127
.250 190 153
.300 215 174
.350 238 194
.400 263 205
.450 283 215
.500 297 218
.550 311 220
.600 310 222
.650 304 225

These heads have 2.020/1.570 valves and a relatively small intake runner vol. They have a much smaller runner than our stroker heads because runner velocity is key in making good torque and HP (more area under the curve) for a given combination, CID, intake, cam, compression, etc.
They flow about 25 CFM less than our stoker heads with 2.055/1.600 valves.

Here is what i persoanlly find amazing/impressive.

224-228 .580 lift hydraulic cam Those numbers are very impressive for what I would conside a fairly small camshaft. To achieve those results with the head numbers cited, I can only see it being possible with an efficent, small port with a lot of velocity. The other thing that would be required would be a very fast ramp rate to ge the valve open, while still retaining control of the valvetrain.

For those of you more knowledgeable than myself about camshafts, how would you do it with the restrictions laid out here. I am especially interested in hearing from TR, since they have worked on some agressive rates in their "Old Man Cams"

Also, does anyone have the spec on the G5 cam handy...

Well, I see that TR has made 460 with a small roller. Anyone else?

C'mon speculation is welcomed. What do you think is required to make 460+HP on a stock cube motor?

I know it can be done with the GM CNC heads and the 'Gib' cam (the big Challenge cam). But, Cartek appears to be making it with a pretty small cam.

My question about the G5 cam is that I would suspect that the LGM cam is a bit bigger than the old G5 cam, I was wondering what the specs were on the g5 to see if one could extrapolate numbers.

Any ideas speculation, anything???

My speculation based on the old G5 cam specs of 224/230 dur .581/.570 lift is the that their new cam is at least 226/232 duration with over .600 lift since valve reliefs are cut in the pistons.

Sounds like a good guess. Any guesses on LSA 110 or 112?

Of course in the dyno chart it is still making mad power on the big end. I wonder if they might have the cam on a 113 or 114LSA
