CAM question...
Hey I was looking to see if someone can point me in the right direction... search just kinda confused me more
So, I just bought a set of ported 5.3L heads for my 2000 Camaro and was hoping someone can help me decide on a cam. The heads have been milled to 58cc and have 2.02" & 1.575 stainless steel valves. I have an A4 with 3.42 gears and no converter - I will be swapping in an M6 in 2 months or so and would rather putt around without a TC... I unfortunately do not have flow numbers...
I've seen folks run 228R TSP cams and get good results, but I know that to get good results you need to consider the static and dynamic compression... I basically want to be at 400+ at the wheels and this is my DD so I want to be somewhat ok in traffic.
I have LT headers, ORY (soon to be 3" X), K&N CAI, 160* stat... When I do my install I will have ls6 intake, under drive pulley, ported oil pump and new timing chain... The heads have double springs good to .650 lift....
Whew... that’s all folks, lemme know if you have any recommendations or personal experiences.

So what about that cam makes it good for my application? Also, the rpm range in specified (3500-6500)... does that mean that most of the power will kick in at 3500 and I would NEED a converter? or could I get away with my A4 tuned untill I swap to M6?
Specified cam specs...
RPM Range: 3,500 to 6,500 rpm
Duration @ .050" lift: 228/232 (int/exh)
Valve lift: .600"/.600" (int/exh)
Performance cam for stock or slightly modified engines, good idle with slight chop.

what is the lobe separation on that one? that cam isn't tooo big...and its definetly not small, that would be pretty badass. you'll probably wanna look around duration near the 230 mark , and lift hovering at or below .600 on the exh and int and you should get a cam that pulls good for you....i would look at an lsa of 112 or 114 like normal too.
