Rings Or Valve Stem Seals I did a cam on my 02 Z28 and after thaq it started burning oil. Before i would go 4k on M1 5w30 without loosing any oil after the cam install i go through 3 quarts in 3k miles. It doesnt smoke when engine is cold but when it warms up you can see smoke coming out of the tail pipes. Car had 95k miles when i did the cam and now im at 100K, can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell whether it is the piston rings or valve seals?? or could anything else cause this !?
When do you see smoke? Full acceleration at high RPM? When you shift gears? Does it puff a cloud when you shift or is it constant? Also , have you checked to see if it is passing oil through your PCV system?
