thats a pretty big cam and on a 114 will peak high... y that cam?? where did u find it, never heard of that one... and only u will know if its too big... what do u want from the cam? smooth idle? choppy? good torque? good top end? a little of each? track racing? street racing? daily driver?

Thats really big for a car with only a lid and a cutout. The high exhaut durration would make up for not having headers. Since you have a manual, go with a 112 LSA. It will help pull the power band down some.

Why did you chose that cam?

If it was on a 110 w/1.8's it would be real close to the ASA cam.

its an A R E grind and i was gonna get it because my buddy is selling it i just figured for $100 bucks i couldnt go wrong.......as far as what i want.... a somewhat choppy idle WOULDNT bother me, as far as powerband is concerned.... i WASNT trying to rev past 6400 (maybe 6600) to get everything out the thing, i was thinking that it being on a 114 lobe that it would help my idle?? am i wrong...... so is the concensus that this would be to much for a car i drive once a week.... maybe twice, that i would take to the track once in a blue moon??

That's a hard call to make; it may be impossible to know without actually trying it; depends on how much you like race-car manners. For $100 I'd say it's worth the gamble, and LS1's are easier than other motors to switch cams on. I used to run 320/320 (probably about 270/270 @ .050) in a '67 Firebird. This is a lot more radical than what you're considering, but that thing was a beast and after a couple of years I had to downgrade. One problem with my setup in the '67 was 3.08 gears.
