Default Upgrading my timing chain.. Oil pan question

Just wondering when you guys drop the oil pan to get the pump off do you every have any problems with the pan leaking after? What kind od gasket does it have on the pan? I assume it must be reusable.

Hey when I did mine like 3 times.. never had a problem with it leaking. it has like an aluminum gasket with a thick o-ring attached to it in the middle. And get a 10mm rachet wrench. well worth it. theres a couple that I had a hard time gettin my big hands in there.

I would definently make sure the o-ring is in damn good cause mine was a bastard when i put the new oring in, when i re-assembled everything it slid right in though.

something else. there are aluminum shims behind the oil pump. just a heads up wish i would have known that.

I was told I have to drop the K member down to get the pan down far enough to get the pickup tube off. Is this true?

I didn't have to... I just loosened all the pan bolts and dropped it down as far as I could. It's pretty tight but you should be able to do it with out dropping the k-member.
