Default 408 build stopped....

I'm at the crossroads on my 408 build for my 2000 S-10. It seems the only headers I can find are Sanderson brand headers that have 1 1/2 inch outlets at the exhaust flange. I already have Callies crank, rods, and Diamond pistons going in the block. I feel that the headers will be a restriction and shouldn't spend all the extra money on the top end if it can't breathe. Thinking about running the 317 6.0 heads that I have instead of aftermarket. The truck will be running a T-56 manual w/ Ford 9 rear end. I'm looking at the L92 heads if FAST will come out w/ the new intake. You guys think I'm on the right track? I'm seriously considering custom weld together headers so I can get my desired 1 3/4 outlet flange. Sanderson said that they did have a 1 3/4 header designed for the drivers side but nada for the passenger side. Hmmh, bet it's a PITA to do...

If it was me I would get a set of headers like pace (300 from speed inc) and modify them to fit. It will be a lot less work than starting from scratch and they may not need that much changing. I just finished putting ls in 94 chev p.up and that is what I did...I know I had more room than you...but I did not have to touch the primaries. Chuck

Were they ls1/s10 headers or were they for an f-body? The 94 frame isn't different than mine so that may point me in the right direction.

Hmmh, Ok thanks for the input. I'm checking wrecking yards for a frame since I have a mock up LS1 block and trashed 317 6.0 heads that I can probably do the headers w/ while the block is being finished. I'm trying to get everything ready cause come spring my truck gets done. I've got two projects left to finish for customers and then I'm next.

Talked to a couple of different machine shops and talked to Port pros(one of the sponsors here)about my dilema. They all agree w/ the header situation. Need to try to get around 1 3/4 that step to 1 7/8 to the collector at least. If I could get 1 7/8 all the way down, that would be cool. I'm starting to think about tube chassis front end now where it will all clear.
