Default 5.3 bored to a 3.905"

just wondering if this is safe, builder said a no no but he is very particulary and think he just didn't want to do it. it will be an iron 5.3 i'll be making into a 382. Opinions?

thats the ABSOLUTE biggest I'd ever try to go on that block... and even then I wouldnt want to have to count on that motor for anything as far as reliability. boring it out from stock to a 3.898 is the most popular (stock LS1) and seems to have zero reliability issues... when you punch one out that big, you're looking at some pretty thin cylinder walls and when things start to contort around inside there, you're looking at some nasty damage.... I'd keep it a tad smaller... you're gonna have to get custom pistons made up either way you go... but not with the 3.898... you can use any stock LS1 replacement, forged, etc etc... you might want to check out performancetrucks.net as well... its a sister site of LS1Tech and has great info... this topic has been covered over there quite a few times....
