Default H/C package on a budget?

So I've had an LS1 car before (98 camaro) but I never got to doing a cam or heads.
I'm installing an LS1 into my 96 240SX (not sure what year yet - we'll assume 99) I will have the following modifications installed.
Hinson Long tubes
Intake
Exhaust
LS6 intake manifold
LS1Edit

I'd like a heads/cam combo that will make 425-450whp on pump gas with a proper tune, I'd like it to be $2000 or less in parts. It'll be in a car that's *** light, so if it doesn't make a lot of power low (but in the mid-high range instead) thats ok.

So what do you folks recommend that is gonna fit my budget and power goals?

do some searching, there are many threads like yours already on the site. I would also give texas speed a call or check their website, they have some budget combos that still make good numbers.

Hands down Texas Speed on a budget, but don't let the word budget get you worried. They tailor a great combo for you needs.

Alright well heres my 2 cents, Run the patriot stage 2 ls6 cylinder heads, trickflow pushrods, and a trick flow stage 3 cam. I put down 445rwhp and 420ft lbs with this setup and I love it. this combo is cheap compared to other setups especially if your doing the install yourself.

I paid 1100 for the heads, 87 for the pushrods, 270 for the camshaft. all that for 1457. I think is cheap for heads and cam. Thats just my opinion.

We have a "budget" set up that GM High Tech just finished testing. It included a set of our CNC ported 243 castings with oem valves, Patriot Gold springs, ti retainers, and our newest cam grind. Our set up gained 10 more rwhp that the set up GMHT did in the November issue that costs twice as much !!

We will have these cams ready in about 3-4 weeks. November 1-30 we will be offering this set up including heads, cam, oem head bolts, and Manley pushrods at the introductory price of $1395.00 plus shipping. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Gunnar@Patriot ~ No sh*t on the great price. What is that gonna be after the sale. So if i go with this setup i'll have an idea how fast i have to move lol. So it comes with, stage 2 heads and what's the spec's on the cam? I'm lookin' for a good heads/cam package for my C5. Just picked up a LS6 intake and T/B for $150 and i'm thinkin' with these head, that intake, tune, headers, and full 3" piping i should be around that 425-450 rwhp mark ~Cole~

These are our ported 243 castings with the oem valves and our Patriot Gold springs. The normal price on this kit will be around $1500.00. The cam is 225/229 .580"/.590" 114 LSA.

I have these heads(slightly bigger valves) and a smaller cam.I picked up .7 sec in et and 8 mph in trap speed . Tough combo to beat. That plus Gunnars' customer service is tough to beat. Number one in my book.

What kind of numbers can we expect from this set up with normal boltons & a good tune?

What rpm stall would be ideal to match that cam?
