Default 6.0 block question

i just bought a brand new 6.0 iron block from GM. it is a std bore of 4.0 inches. i see that many bore them .30 over to make a 408. could i just get 4.0 in pistons and run the std bore or is it neccessary to bore it. Has anyone run a std bore? i am building a iron twin turbo setup and was planning on the extra cylinder wall thickness but then was told to bore it. any info would be appreciated . thanks

Standard bore would be a 402 vs 408 when bored .030 over. This is of course with a 4.0" stroke crank. There's a few iron 402's on here.

If it is brand new and never ran I wouldnt see a problem with keeping the 4.00" bore. Just get a good set of low compression forged pistons. At most I would figure a hone sesson but nothing more REQUIRED for a new 6.0L.

thanks guys for the response. the block came in great shape and the bores were well oiled so i was hoping to get the response that it would be ok to use. thanks again. another question. where could i get a good deal on a rotating assembly. all the sponsers seem to have complete engines. i just need the bearings, crank, pistons, and rods. thanks again
