Default oil loss

drive 2002 camaro 3 maybe 4 times a month went to check the oil that only has about 1000k or less of use and it is about 1 qt low. I just swapped to mobil 1 5-30 the car only has about 55k; any reason for this.

m1 5-30 is on the thin side for 30wt oil. I'd reccomend the 0-40 (more like normal 30wt) or the 10-40 M1, or the 5-40 M1 for trucks if you can find it.

Try replacing the PCV valve, if it gets all gunked up it wont regulate properly and could be the reason why your burning oil. It only cost about 4$ and takes 1min to do. Its good to replace every so often.
