Default Found a place for longer crankshaft bolt...

I thought I'd pass this along to in hopes it may help some others out. I wasnt able to find a longer crankshaft bolt when I was piece mealing my stuff for the cam swap so I thought we'd be ok without it. Well last night we started to try to install the SLP UD pulley and got it started ok but then it wouldnt budge. We tried tapping it in with a hammer and a 4x4 and got it on about 1/4" and then decided to stop so I we called it quites for the night and this morning I was going to try and find a longer crankshaft bolt locally so we could finish the rest of the project.

I went to Napa and they didnt have one long enough but did have an M16. The guy working there told me to check out the Tractor Supply Storea few miles down the road so I drive over there. They didnt have one but there was a really nice guy working in the service dept told me that a John Deere store he has gone to in the past for parts for a 1949 tractor he has had metric bolts for repairing it. So I drive an hour+ and to get to the store and THEY HAD ONE!! YAAAYY! He said most John Deere places stock the M16 x 2.0 bolts. It cost me only $6 along with a good thick washer too and we got the pulley on and torqued to 240ft.

So for those that need to find the longer crankbolt locally check out a John Deere place near you

I just went to the local hardware store and got a 3ft stick of M16 all thread rod and some nuts. Spent 10 bucks for enough rod to make several install tools.

I found one at ace hardware, about a half mile from my house. They had them even longer than I needed.

I don't know how long the bolt has to be, but McMaster Carr has 16mm bolts up to 200 mm long (almost 8 inches). Great shipping, and anything else hardware wise you need.

Well no one local had the bolt. I tried Napa, Advanced, Lowes, Home depot...no luck. No luck on the threaded rod either. I just wanted to add a new source to the list without having to order something online and waiting.
