Default Smell of exhaust from AC while at idle?

Is this possible or am I smelling things? When I get rolling I don't notice any strange smells.

Does it happen all the time?

the AC sucks in air in front of the passenger side of the windshield. If the wind was blowing a certain way when you were sitting there, it might have blown the fumes from the *** of the car to up front, which might make its way into the AC inlet.

Maybe?

It happens all the time. When I get moving, I don't smell anything.

My camaro does that on startup. I think it could be an exhaust leak, particuarly a header gasket.

Will it cause any permanent damage to ME if I don't get it fixed right away?

I wouldn't say inhaling exhaust fumes is good for you. I also don't know how bad yours is. Mine only does it for about 4 seconds on startup when I turn the AC on. If I don't turn it on it's almost unnoticable.

How much will it cost to get it fixed?
