Arrow Stock LS1 Ring Gap

Gentleman, I need your opinion on this matter.

I am rebuilding a 1998 stock LS1. I bought some Sealed-Power rings and when I was checking the gap at the cylinders they were all gapped at:
Top Ring: .019
2nd Ring: .021

Does this sound correct for a stock LS1? I thought that the service gap limit
was:
Top Ring: .015
2nd Ring: .025

The shop I took it to deglazed the cylinders, they didnt cut the cylinders. Do you gentleman think this can affect anything? Should I go ahead and install the rings like this or is there anything else that I should do to make the ring gaps match the service manual specs? One last thing, the top rings dont show any mark or bevels, both sides are the same. Can I install either way?

Thanks in advance!!

The main issue here is to have enough gap that the rings don't butt against each other. Having .004 over stock spec will do nothing. I would go ahead and put the second ring gap at .025.

Take a good look at your rings make sure there aren't any marks to show which side is up. If you don't see any check the chamfer on the inside diameter of the rings. On the top ring the chamfer goes up, on the second it goes down.

Thank You very much "PortPros1" for your advice. I guess I am going to go: Top Ring - .019
2nd Ring - .022

Anyone agree on this ? Thanks

I gapped mine at .020"/.024". Should be reliable for a 150 shot from what i'm told.
