are the holes above the filter pressurized
i just put a engine in my 2000 trans am, bone stock lq4 with long tubes and pp 96mm intake but im getting no reading on the oil pressure gage. i took the cover off the two holes right above the oil filter on the side of the pan and started it and oil shot out all over. So does that mean i have oil and a bad sensor or could i still not have oil pressure.

The tap above your oil filter was an original oil pressure sensor location. So Yes it is pressureized and people who don't trust the sensor behind the intake usually tap the fitting on out for a mechanical or electric aftermarket guauge. So ya you got oil pressure the question is how much?

Sender is either unplugged or broken...check it.
Drill and tap that plate for an Autometer guage while you've got it off...much better than the stocker....
If I'm not mistaken, Vette's run an oil cooler setup that connects in that location.
