Default Oil pressure zero ...Help!

I got my engine back from the engine shop today and everything went perfectly installing it. I go to turn it over and I got zero oil pressure. I removed the sending unit and hooked an oil pressure guage up to it and it still read zero...What is up with that...anyone have the same experience..help please. The engine is a 6.0 with a 30 overbore and forged internals.

Maybe the releif valve on the oil pump is stuck. If you've tried another sensor, I'd replace the oil pump. Its not uncommon for it to fail.

Check to see if the pickup tube is fully seated/with o-ring intact.

ditto.

It is NOT an o-ring issue! (Geeze, that o-ring gets blamed for everything lately!)

WOW! ...Call the manufacturor and ask them what you should do first?

Did you take the oil filler cap off the valve cover while the motor was on? ANy oil being thrown around inside?

Don't run this motor for more than a few seconds...

I've heard that some guys will un-plug their coil pack harnesses and spin the motor with the starter to "prime" the pump before starting a new Gen III engine...

Try that before you start it anymore! The oil pump should develop oil pressure that you can see from the oil filler cap on the valve cover...

If they did a complete motor install then you might want to check the oil restrictor plug at the back of the block. You need to take off the rear cover to get to the plug. When I did my motor, I forgot to put the plug in and had zero pressure.

Just a thought.

There is also a plug supposed to be in the block thats under the timing cover. Its a mini-freeze plug, and new blocks don't come with it either.

The plug only goes in one way. One end is small and the opposite end is larger with the o-ring. Slip it in, small end first, then make sure the larger end is flush with the block.

Hope this helps.

It's under the rear cover. There is also a metal plug on the front and 3 brass screw in plugs on the side that a new block wouldn't have

Yea its a plastic plunger thingy, its about 4 inches long or so, under the rear cover. I would bet they forgot to install it. If it was missing, you could easily over look it before installing the rear cover.

That sucks for you because its not a 5 minute job to pull the rear cover and check to see if its in there. =(

Good luck man.

To get to the rear plug you will have to pull the tranny, bellhousing, clutch , flywheel and rear cover.
