Default Bad Lifter ... Maybe?

I have been hearing a sort of ticking noise in my car. I have been hearing for awhile, but no effects on driving everyday or gas mileage. I have had two serious misshifts with my M6. Going from 3rd back to 2nd at 6000rpm didn't help the motor. I replaced the pushrods already. I saw no broke valve springs or rocker arms. My motor is all stock. Any ideas?

He just said he replaced all the pushrods.

I would be willing to bet you may have bent a valve. I'm having the exact same problem you are, and all my pushrods are good. There's a faint ticking in the motor, and it's a either a bent valve, or a collapsed lifter. We're getting ready to pull the heads here in a few days to find out for sure.

Just my opinion but before I pulled the heads I would do a cylinder leak down test on each cylinder. If you do have a bent valve you should be able to hear it coming out the intake or exhaust. And then at least you will know it is the bent valve. And rule out the lifters. You also would only have to pull one head if you find it.

hell yeah do a leak down test first!!!! it could be a bad lifter but it could also be something else, i had a bad lifter and a bent pushrod, and when i put the heads back on i was still missing so i have to do a leak down and see what's up.....

Does the noise happen all the time? Did you notice it right after the misshift? My lifter just recently collapsed. The motor wouldn't tick for the first 20 minutes of driving, but then i'd hear the tick. Also, it would go away with some idleing time.
