Unhappy Got a problem..

This is what I got..

I just finished swapping the Lifters out in my 402 cause I had a bad one..we start the Engine and it runs up fine, no problems, idles good, 65psi Oil Pressure.

When it warms up, there is a INTERMITTENT ticking in the back of it on the right side..nothing constant, and it's not that loud. It's louder than an Exhaust leak, but not as loud as a Rod Bearing knocking or anything like that.
I inspected the Valve Springs, Cylinder Walls, pretty much everything when it was apart.
Cold it's fine, when it warms up, it does it..

Did you soak the lifters before install?? Sounds like a ticking lifter. I know that sucks to hear after getting done, but that sounds like the correct noise. And if it didn't previously do it, that narrows it down a little.

I soaked them..I am still goin with that possibility..after talking with some people, I am checking the Rocker Arms, one could have had the Bearing go out in it, or not hitting the Valve Stem in the right spot..

I agree, sounds like a lifter with issues. Better to pull it apart and make 100% sure. You don't want an arm beating the hell out of the side of the tip of the valve, rolling them over.

I also had H-11 triple springs break on me... the inners broke on 8 of the 16 valves... Probably from abuse when the engine was cold... Engine still ran great, and made no noise, didn't even know they were jacked until we pulled it apart.

Well..it's definately not any of that..

In the Engine sounds like a bunch of Midgets beating the hell out of it with Hammers..

I'm tearing it down, and checking it all out..

When ever that Lifter went, it shot something somewhere, and it went to ****..

Did the old lifter have damage?? You could have possible dropped something in the pan & not known. Definetly tear down time, possibly new short block time too if it sounds that bad.

I would start by checking the preload, check for any rockers that feel loose, take your time, you'll get it figured out.

Are you using aftermarket rockers ? Roller rockers tend to be a little noisy .

If it was a broken cam the motor wouldn't be running at all & your oil would have alot of metal shavings in it. Also when the cam broke you would have probably blow the entire motor, not just had to replace lifters.

Saw your other thread...

I would suggest inspecting the cam lobes again...just to be sure.

I had the same problem with a set of Comp 850s a while back. Started intermittently, then turned into a constant tick. Pulled it all apart and had one bad lifter and one bad lobe on the cam.

Ended up buying a new cam and all new lifters. No problems since.

Good luck!
