clean the cam?

clean the cam? Should I clean my hotcam before I coat it with oil? It seems to have a sticky residue on it.

Re: clean the cam? That sticky suff is for your roller lifter wheels to hook up on 
just kidding you can use brake clean to cut that coating off and them coat it with oil.

Re: clean the cam? i cleaned mine with brake cleaner and a paper towel - nothing came off, however... so mine was shipped clean....not everyone has the same experience, however...
I put silicone spary on it until it was ready for installation ...then i coated it with motor oil and plugged it in...
