I definitely recommend taking your time and labeling baggies for bolts.

13 hours with a friend who had done 1 swap at the time (I think it was 1 or 2).
My first.

Easy going really and I changed the oil pump too.

Putting header bolts back on, I cross threaded the #8 bolt
Have everything you need
Clean out the head bolt holes extremely good

Like I said, arrange to have a rental car if this is a daily driver. Come mid Sunday afternoon, you're going to be racing against the clock and like someone else said, autoparts stores close just before you break something or need something. It's a gaurantee. It could be a $0.30 item, but without it you're dead in the water.

Also, read up on the swap, and print out the how-to just so you have a reference.

I have yet to do a heads/cam swap but i really don't think dropping the trans and k member is necessary for this swap.

Have an oil pressure sender on hand - that will save you a trip.
Have a magnetic bolt grabber.
Put a large sheet under the car to catch **** you drop and make it easy to see.
Have lots of light.
Start early, work hard but steady - no beer til after.
Use air tools if available.
Don't remove the condenser, you can rotate it out of the way.
Have a helper to clean parts as you remove them.
Take a few pics for reference.
Use some baggies, trays, etc. to organize certain parts (pushrods, etc).
Lift the car as high as you can and use extra jackstands.

A weekend will be enough if you do these things and don't have to make too many unexpected parts runs.

Good luck!

when you have the timing cover off, stuff a couple rags inbetween the oil pump and openings in the oil pan just in case one slips. its a bitch when one falls in there. also, when taking off the oil pump, use fishing line or any other line and tie it around the pick up bolt, makes it worry free to pull out. either way 2 days should be fine to do. i would try to strip teh car down friday night. and get everything clean the next morning. take your time and if you get upset watch some tv for 15-20 minutes. its amazing how little things will solve themselves with a cool head.

for me, the worst part of my intall was getting the pulley on and off. we broke 1 pulley puller, so i went and bought a beefy one and it came off (90 minutes of swearing and giving in to buying another tool) and then putting the pulley back on. we didnt have a press, so we used a plank of wood and a mallet to "tap" it on, just to insure you dont strip the threads if your using the meathod of backing the pulley on with the old bolt. good luck and take your time

It took me 7 days...had a bolt break in the block. After I got it out, it took 3 days to get a new set of ARP head bolts (which I recommend) and then finished the install. Plan for delays.

There is one sure way to start messing things up....and that's rushing. I know that from experience.
