Default guideplates?

Just looking at a set of Ford heads and it got me wondering...Why don't Ls1s use pushrod guideplates?

That's a good ?. I know that on earlier style stock sbc heads you didn't need them because of the shape of the pushrod holes...maybe it's similiar on the ls1???
