After my old motor spun a few main bearings, I had to do a rebuild. After going over many options, I decided to rebuild the motor myself. A Lunati 383 Stroker. I sent the block out to be machined and I assembled it myself takiing my time and double checking everything. Well to make a long story short, I fininshed up around 11pm. Being a little scared and nervous, I was going to wait until tomorrow to fire it up. I decided to just see if it would start. Soon as I hit the key, it fired right up and idled.
I breathed a huge sigh of relief. It idled pretty smooth for a 236/240 cam. I shut it off after a minute because it is pretty loud and I didn't want to wake the neighbors. Oil pressure read 60psi. The valve train is pretty noisy. I put new lifters in and hopefully they will quiet down some. The XE-R lobes probably isn't helping matters either. I will take it for a little spin tomorrow to start the break in.
I can't wait to drive it down the road...

I have around $5000 into it with the Lunati kit, new cam, new lifters, new oil pump, new timing chain, bolts, double valve springs and machine work. I also had the rotating assemble rebalanced with the ASP pulley and flywheel.
