Post blown head gasket

blew my head gasket driving home from work. was playin in the car a little tryin to relax on my way home and all of a sudden car is running horribly and dosent even idle at red lights. i had to restart car like 3 times to get home. anyways i figured this would be a good time to buy new heads and mabey a new intake and bigger cam. with the added power from new heads and mabey a intake and cam if i can afford it will my bottom end hold up to the power that my car will be making. i dont plan on going to the drag strip anytime soon cause im still on stock rearend and clutch but i do occasionally play around with it. one guy i go to school with insists that if i do heads my bottom end wount handle it. any advise would be nice if my bottom end wount hold up what should i replace and what is acceptable to keep stock? also how much power should i be making before i really have to worry about the rearend breaking or the clutch going out? clutch is already acting odd. did a search on pedal sticking to floor and im gonna try replacing slave cylinder, clutch fluid, and do the drill mod when i have some free time.

How do you know the headgasket is blown? Losing coolant? White exhaust? Coolant smell with the car running? Drain your oil and get that **** out of your bottom end before it starts turning into a shake if that really is the case a blown hg. If you dont youll have real problems

white smoke coming out of exhaust. car running like crap. smoke coming from rear of block. im pretty sure its a blown head gasket. i should drain the oil out of the car? i guess if im gonna replace heads i might as well drain coolant too.

i think everybody on here will agree that if u only doing heads and cam that the bottom end will be there! the ls1 is a really strong motor! people that dont mess with them much dont know just how strong they really are!

i though the bottom end would hold up. good to know i dont have to worry about it anymore. this guy i go to school with has a wrx and kept sayin i was gonna screw my bottom end up so i decided to make sure first. i guess i just need to pick out some heads now and get it back on the road. how much will new heads affect the tune i have for my car now. if it wount make a big difference or make it run worse i might save the cam and intake for later but if im gonna need a retune anyways then i might as well go big.

go to futral motorsports. they will help you out wiht any application. they will make sure your head and cam are good for each other and you can order the ls6 intake as well. btw, if your dropping the motor (would be easier) go ahead and do the clutch. it wont hold 450 hp. and with h/c/i you will make around 450. futral will also tell you what is needed for tuning and if im not mistaken you can get tuners from them as well. good luck.
