basic ls6 cam questions
Sorry, I'm sure this has been posted many times. I just ran a search and came up with absolutely nothing. Maybe the search feature isn't working properly.
Anyways, I'm set on an LS6 cam for my 1999 Z28. I don't want to go too wild with my car, I want the stock idle sleeper effect, and the drivability. Now the questions...
1. What other parts will I need besides the cam? New springs, retainers?
2. Some kind of tuning would probably be a good idea huh?
3. Where the hell can I buy this cam from? I've looked at so many vendors and can't find one.
edit: Ok, found it for under $200 at gmpartsdirect. Not too bad.
Thanks in advance guys.

Re: basic ls6 cam questions
If your just doing the cam, all you really need is the ls6 springs and retainers + a new water pump gasket, and valve cover gaskets (if you do the springs and retainers). You may be able to get by with out any tuning... just raise your idle... but tuning never hurts.
and yes it appears the search is down

Re: basic ls6 cam questions
I am in the process of putting one in my 6 liter. Actually the cam is in the block waiting on the t. chain to come in. The LS6 springs are part #12565117 and the stock retainers work fine. One thing I read somewhere is that the LS6 cam is ground with 2 degrees retard built in so I am considering advancing it a little right from the start.
