I was looking at building an iron block solid roller motor for the new car. 360 bored .030, billet rods, good pistons, and reved to hell and back ![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
i was looking at some stroker cranks though, and i was wondering, is it really worth it?
1.) how much stronger are they?
2.) how much higher (supposing everything else is top notch) can they rev?
3.) what extra work is required, and in your opinion, is it worth it?
thanks alot guys...i've been out of this ls1 comunity to long

im just an amateur but due to the strength of the stock crank and the big numbers all bore motors have been putting up id say not really. the 422 and 427 inch motors from most of the big shops are "only" making like 525-530rwhp or so while the all bore motors (388-396) are usually around 500rwhp or so. im sure the strokers have more torque but is it worth the extra 2k or more to you? youd save a boatload with the iron block too because of no resleeving. you could make a nice SR 383 for comparatively cheap. im sure youd see 475rwhp easy with that. to answer your questions more directly, quite a few have taken the stock crank to 700rwhp and/or 6700-6800rpm or so. the rpm's would kill it before you could with naturally aspirated power.

One thing to keep in mind with the a stroker crank is that piston velocity will increase, so I think you could rev higher with a stock crank.

i'm considering a iron-blocked stroker...
will likely go with 4.125 crank for big cubes and a NEW stock LQ$ blolck...the cranks are really expensive now, however.... perhaps they will decline in price soon????
