Default What do you guys think?

Hi all, I'm new here (obviously). Been looking at the site for awhile and finally have an f-body so I can put the board to good use.

To make things short and sweet, I have a few mods done to my car...its a 99Z,m6 with jet-hot headers, lid, spec 3 clutch, and dual exhaust. Best time out of the car is 13.3@107 w/a 2.21 60ft (before new clutch & on kuhmos). Made about 10 passes total with the car.

I'm looking to get a set of Patriot stage 2 heads. I haven't had a problem deciding which heads (5.7L), but my issue is trying to decide between a couple different cams. Curious as to what you guys think will work better with the heads I'll be getting..and if you don't like the ones I'm interested in, any suggestion would be much appreciated. I've already taken a peek at the sticked "cam" thread.

FYI, the flow chart on the heads are as follows:

Patriot Stage-II with Patriot 2.02/1.57 Valves
---- Int Exh
.100 67 61
.200 133 108
.300 194 147
.400 242 183
.500 274 205
.550 290 213
.600 296 220

I'm looking to make some great numbers (@ the track). I'd like a cam that's good for a daily driver. I will be getting LS1Edit in accordance w/the heads/cam, so tuning isn't much of an issue. In the future, I *might* add n2o...and that's a big MIGHT. Which of the two cams are going to work best with my setup, or what do you recommend?(nothing extreme like the G5X2) I'm not an expert on cams at all...I plan on bumping my rev limiter up to no higher than 6500rpms.
Two cams I'm interested in...

228/228 .588/.588 112LSA

228-224 .571/.568 114LSA

Thanks for helping out a NEWB!

how about a proven cam? like a tr224, or a c1 or c2? if u wanna limit to 6500, u'll need a shift point of 6300, and with stage 2 heads, and a big cam, ur peak will be at 6500... so a big cam will not be what u want... i'd stick to no more than 224, and on a 112lsa to keep ur peak reasonable

I want to make as much power as possible, without spinning the motor to 7K...since I don't want to be replacing other parts of the motor (pistons, etc).
It's not that I don't want to go with a proven cam, but when I see people making 415+ RWHP on stock heads w/cams like the G5X2. The only things I don't want to have happen are surging, having stall issues, or not being able to run my A/C, as well as not worrying about P/V clearance at all. I live in S. Arizona where its hotter than hell, so another problem I have is I have to keep compression ratio down to about 10.2-10.5 because of shitty 91 Octane.

So basically which cam would you say would be the best for my application?! I'll take just about anyone's opinion into consideration!

"go with somthing proven".
hmmm sounds good on paper BUT doing whats best for you is even better. i was told 500 times, the TR230 was not gonna work, it was too this or too that, well after many good miles its an awsome cam, ya you could go with an off the shelf cam but you can geta custom grind cheaper than most vendors normal prices. imo im eyeballing the custom 224 that another member has 224/224 55x .55x 110 106icl. go with what you think/know will work. opinions are good but not gosphel.
