Default milling/porting heads.

I'll be pulling the heads off this weekend to hopefully diagnose a problem. and while they are off im thinking of having them ported and possibly milled?

they are Non CNC'd ported DART heads.

205cc intake 62cc combustion chamber 2.02/1.60

what can I expect from porting them? what about milling them down to 59cc chambers? what about both? I really don't know a whole lot about the whole process and what to expect.

what are the pros to milling compared to porting and vice versa?

im perfectly fine with buying new pushrods (diff length) as I may have to replace them anyway.

so explain to me whats up guys?

Milling can/will resurface the mating surfaces.I.E. if you have a warped engine head or to raise compression.Porting enlarges the intake and/or exhaust ports on the head for more air flow, intake and or exhaust.(in a nut shell) hope this helps.

yeah it does, I was looking for more info on if doing both is recommended/the norm?

doesn't milling reduce teh size of the combustion chamber? and porting enlarge it? it sounds like its counter productive? or am I totally off?

I wouldn't mind bumping compression up a little bit. Im at stock now.

Close, milling does raise the c/r but remember your talking thousanths of an inch.Porting in the combustion chamber is should be left to pro's(imho).
The 205's in your sig shouldn't need much to raise the c/r. Its kinda' up to the individual as far as how much to mill or port.$.02

If a reputable machine shop wil do both for you for a resonable price than go ahead and do so. Make sure to check PTV clearance if you mill to 59cc with that cam even though I think it would be ok but asking the wrong guy

YOu could go with a thinner gasket (.040) to bump compression some. Definitly get some work done to the Dart's. They are not great out of the box.
