With stock heads I would say around 385hp with a good tune. Do a search for cam only ms3's and you should find out the power you will be making. Did you decide on what valve springs and rockers you are going with.

I think there are better cams out there for cam only, especially for a A4 but many do run the MS3 cam only and have great results but If you are gonna go through all the trouble in any application why not get a custom cam spec'd out and maxamize performance. Just my .02

ive also been gauging the MS3!! ive been looking up the reverse spit cams, and also a 231/237. but because im thinking of doing a 370 or 383 im looking at the ms3. yeah u can always get a custom cam, but the off the shelf cams are already proven!! it might not be the best way to go about it, but look up a guy named TRMIN8R!! hes pretty much made the ms3 famous.. those videos alone make u think bout going with a big cam!!

I have a MS3, Made 400 r.w.h.p. through a TH-350. I've had a T-Rex, G5X-3, and a HPE S-Cam, out of them all I like the MS3 the best. I have stock heads on the car. I did daily drive it for a few weeks, wasn't bad even with a TH-350.

For valve springs i went with the prc dual springs. They have a max lift of .650 ands can last 25 to 30,000 miles before changing. For Rockers i went with orange Harland sharp 1.7's non adjustable. I had 88,000 miles on the stockers and since i was in there decided to go ahead and upgrade. If you motor is low miles you can reuse your stock rockers.

I just ordered the HPE S cam how did you like it? Where did your powerband start? how was the mid/toprange in comparison to the MS3? I have a bolt on car with stock heads and bottom end with a A4, 3.42 gears, 3000 stall, LTs, ORY, exhaust, and LS6 intake do you think the S cam will be too aggressive?

I have thought about going with a bigger cam such as the ms3. Have you thought about rodbolts? The earlier models 98-99,and some 2000 had problems with the rod bolts when spinning that high in the rpms. I think it was a guy named mystic98z who put in the ms3.He said it was fine, but about a month later the bottom let go. I put in Katechs about 2 months ago just in case I go with a BIG cam such as the ms3.I happen to have a 98.Thats why I got the rodbolts.Search and see what you come up with.

I have an MS3 and this is my only car that i drive to school to work and were ever else i need to go. I reused my stock rockers with 107k on them so i dont think you have to change them. For valve springs i used the patriot dual golds. They have Super 7 locks which dwarf the stock locks. The PRC springs use the stock size locks. I love this cam i made 410 RWHP and 376 RWTQ through an M6. My tuner said with a ported TB, Z06 MAF, and Smooth Bellows i could make around 425 RWHP.

As far as rod-bolts go I did here some 98 and 99 models had some issues. One of my friends has patriot heads, 233/239 cam, and 150shot. Spinning the motor past 7,000-rpm with untouched bottom end. Its a 98 camaro with over 115,000 miles. So it's really luck.

detonation is the ultimate way to smack your conrod bolts off clean on any engine with factory bolts, keep it under control and you should be sweet below 7000 rpm.
