Default What would be best???

So i just met up with a machine shop out here and the builder told me that labor alone to install an eagle rotating assem. and assemble the long bloc is gonna be 3,600. i'm buying all my own parts. Would it be beter to just buy a short block? and if i do what should i go with? And whats the goin labor rate latley? HELP!

For that price buy a short block!

get it line honed and have the cylinders honed for proper piston/cylinder clearance and assemble it yourself! 3600 sounds ridiculous.

OK, good. SO i'm not the only one that though that was a lil on the highside. I know the guy does good work, he has done a lot of the turbo ls1 sandrails out here, but i've never heard of block assembly and honeing costing that much. i mean is it like that everywhere?
