Default So I picked up a hotcam.....

I know its a small cam, built with a dated design, but I like the torque coming on early, and the hp isn't too bad plus the springs will last a long time.
Price was nice also, 400.00 delivered.
I am ready to put er in, but wondering if I should change my pushrods and oil pump.
Car has 44000 miles.
What do you guys think?

I think I'd change the timing chain and you have to pull the pump to change the chain, so if you got the maoney for another pump it can't hurt. DEFINATELY change the push rods and springs! Of course you could get away with the LS6 springs instead of going aftermarket.

CHANGE THAT OIL PUMP!!!!!!! My 01 SS oil pump pooped out at 36k. NO OIL PRESSURE! Um, the bad pumps were spose to be all gone by 01, but not the case. On my pump was a 00 stamped on it and must have been old stock pump used in the 01's. Buy the stock LS6 pump if you wanna save the money($70 I think). The timing cahain is about $25, put one in with the factory gears(prolly not worn like mine). The pushrod are known to break so its not a bad idea.

the "hot cam" does require a spring change i think, and change the pushrods, I have seen to many bent stock ones.
