Default HELP with Headgasket Issue!!!

Ok I need to order headgaskets from the local parts store and the felpro (its all I can get right now) MLS gaskets are $140 for 97-01 LS1's and from 02+ they are only $80 for both, my car is a 2000 whats the difference and can I use the 02+ gaskets????

There should be no diff, the block as far as bolt holes and water jackets are the same and the heads all swap. I dont see a reason.

Well I have to put my stock 853 casting heads back on and IU just read something about a "notch" these heads have that a 02+ MLS head gasket will not seal?? Looks like graphites for me

Need mnore info if the 02+ felpro MLS gaskets will work with my 853 2000 yr heads??

You do not have a Chevy or Pontiac dealership near you?

If your heads have a "notch" then you have to use that type gaket 97>mid 00
If your heads do not have a "notch", then you can use 01+ gaskets like Graphite, or MLS

Chevy wants $60 per gasket and I dont even think they are MLS, Is the "notch" flat or does it have some sort of "hump" on it?? My stock heads are at the engine shop getting cleaned up, I had to pull my ported LS6 heads off cause one of the chamber had a crack and the engine was eating a ton of water, im lucky I did not bend a rod.

I didnt have the notch and ended up going with felpro graphite gaskets, its all back toghter now and runs good
