Talking Head Swap!

I'm wanting to do a head swap on my 04 chevy silverado, it has 706 heads (factory) and I was wanting to get some other factory heads like ls2 or ls6 that would raise the compression up some and i just want to know which ones would do so? Also plan on putting in an ls6 cam, how do yall think that will work?

I believe 5.3s heads will give you the highest compression from factory, untouched heads. They should work well with the ls6. Be prepared for people to tell you to get a different cam. It is true however that you can get a different cam that will suit your needs better, but if all you want some decent performance from you truck I say go for it! Do you already have the ls6 cam?

I don't have the cam yet but I was planning on getting one shortly. I was also thinking about getting an ls1 or ls6 intake for it. How will that work?

I have heard that the truck intake produces more torque than the ls6 or ls1 due to its longer runners. I would keep the truck intake. I believe there are also clearance problems with a ls1 or ls6 intake in a truck. I think it has to due to the radiator shroud and the air filter assembly.

Forget the head swap and just put the Magnuson blower on top. My friend did it and it's one fun truck! You will probably need the transmission upgraded though. He smoked his in a short amount of time and got the 4l65e upgrade from Joe Gibbs Racing. All is good now except now he needs new rear tires.
