Default got problems with beehives and retainers

We are putting a cam in my buddys ls1 car. We go to put on the valvetrain and after we get a set on we notice that the valve stem is sitting lower then the lock/retainer. So the rocker pushed on the lock instead of the valve stem. They are 918 springs, steel retainers and 10* locks

If the interfeerance is minor you could get offset locks to lower the retainer .025-.050". Your other option is different spring retainers.

Dont they make just one retainer for the beehives? And what size locks do you need for a ls1 anyways? Im pretty sure that he got a valvetrain off here and they had 11/32 locks. The dia. looks perfect and they dont touch when there seated, just everything sits too high.

Well i just talked to him and he said the kit was off a lt1 car. So now would that make the valve stem sit lower in the retainers? And does anyone know the specific p/n for the locks/retainers he needs?

Yup. LT1 retainers won't work. I tried to use a set I got with a set of 918s I got when I had my LT1 and had the same problem. I ended up reusing the stock retainers. Only problem I had with the stock retainers was the installed height was 1.750 and not 1.800. No harm

so what p/n's are for ls1 style? The stockers look real tiny compared to the 10* stuff.

Just re-use the stock retainers and keepers. Almost all aftermarket springs and retainers use the stock keepers. The only set I have installed that don't are the patriot duals which use super 7 locks.
