LS Turbo
Hi guys,im Petri and live in Sweden,im going to come over there before next summer and buy me a chevelle ss,going to build a LS turbo engine for it so im going to buy everything i need at the same time, you have a lot more experience than we have in sweden on ls engines,i have decided to build on a LQ9 iron block,so my question is first
1. Buy 1 LQ9 engine on a yankyard and build on that, are they hard to find and what is the normal price for a complete engine´.
2. Buy 1 LS1 engine on a yankyard an then buy 1 new LQ9 engine block and use the other stuff from the ls1 engine that i need.
Planning on 1000-1200hp so im going to change everything in the engine, and planning on using the patriot stage 1 cylinder heads,so what do you think is the easiest way for me.
Im driving an 1160hp bmw m5 today that i buildt totally by my self, you can check it out here.

If you plan on building up the shortblock and buying new heads, it's probably gonna be cheaper to buy an assembled one from one of the sponsors---->.
By the time you pay for a second hand engine(about $1500), get the rotating assembly($2500-4000), and have the machine work/balancing done it'll be $1000-3000 more. Then you have to assemble it yourself. You should be able to pick up the engine covers and accessories second hand, or you could buy a cheap pull out like a 4.8L to use for parts.

I bought my shortblock from texas speed and performance(TSP), and had a good experience dealing with them. Lots of people here will recommend LME and SDPC also. Just click on the links on the right hand side of your screen and shop to your hearts content.
use tsp engine package for sure.....my buddy has a forged 408 making insane power in a t/a......head turner for sure...
by the way love the bimmer....i have a m3 with some little dinan stuff but nothing compared to yours haha

If I were you I would go the LSX route. LSX block less than 2K, crank, rods, pistons etc...LS7 heads, intake, 90mm TB etc all for a 427 cid (7.0L) then blow that beasts.
Do it right or don't do it.
Either that or get a built 402 shortblock and go from there (6.3L)

Im looking for an 70-72ss,and it have to be a ss because it have to got high oem power in the car registration paper, the problem for me is that the only option for me is to build with a LQ9 block, because that engine dont have to much power and torque OEM,its because i want to have the car legal when im dríving it,that wouldnt go with an lsx block here in sweden, what heads would be nice on a lq9 turbo.

What you need is a 6.0 Iron block (LQ4/LQ9) with stock nitrated crank, aftermarket forged rods, ARP mains, and of course boost pistons.
Heads, ported 317 castings 72cc chamber with high heat valves.
Thats one kick *** set up ..............BB...........SVTKILR
