Do I need longer(then stock) pushrods???

Do I need longer(then stock) pushrods??? My motor is finally together but my pushrods appear too short. I tried 7.35 and the stock 7.4 and both give zero preload. I have ARE stage 3 LS6 heads with their 'S1' cam. The heads are only milled .005 for cleanup and I'm using yella terra rockers. I can't say I've ever heard of someone needing longer then stock pushrods that's why I'm curious.

Re: Do I need longer(then stock) pushrods??? Something sounds odd. Maybe they put valves that are too short on? How big is the lift on the cam? To increase lift on a cam, they grind DOWN the cam rather than adding more to the peak, soooo...the basecircle shrinks. The more lift, the smaller the basecircle, the longer the pushrods need to be. Its even more exagerated since your heads were not milled much.

Re: Do I need longer(then stock) pushrods??? the specs are 242 242 612 612 112 The tops of the valves are not level when a straight edge is laid across them. I think it was the intake side that seemed a big shorter. I could shorten the pedelstool mount on the yella terras but then they wouldn't work on another car.

Re: Do I need longer(then stock) pushrods??? Well, there ya go, 612 lift on a pratically unmilled head is probably the cause of the issue. My valves from ARE weren't all level either but it didn't seem to matter much. The lifter seems to take up the slop. 7.450's might be right for you.
