buy the best heads you can get...don't skimp on heads, then match them with a custom grind cam from Pat G...

you'll easily make 450 w/ a decently sized cam.

A4 here with the AFR 205 Mamo combo. It's a good setup. AR long tubes will replace the MAC mid's on Monday. I'll come back and post dyno numbers Monday night or Tuesday, if you're interested.

milled 60cc w/ GM MLS gaskets ... cam is 224/228 .581/.588 114 +1*

Wow, 30 RWHP difference? Anyone have a dyno graph to back this up? I have dyno'd both heads and I can tell you that there is no way there is 30 RWHP difference. I would bet there isn't a 5 RWHP difference between the heads and they could go either way as to which one will make more power.

With all the supposed knowledge in here, I would have thought someone would have mentioned that the MS3 camshaft will not clear without flycutting the pistons. We have run this combo in several cars almost never making less than 450 RWHP and as much as 497 RWHP. Either way you aren't making a bad choice. The AFR head is a nice piece. If you are wanting to flycut, let me know and I will deck the PRC heads to bump up your compression if you would like. If you aren't wanting to flycut, you might take a look at our PRC Stg. 2.5 5.3L heads. We can set them up to clear with the 2.5 5.3L heads. Also, check out the sponsor sale section. We are running some specials on head/cam combo's till the end of the year.

PRC 2.5 LS6 heads, Cam, Pushrods: $1859.99
PRC 2.5 5.3L heads, Cam Pushrods: $1569.99

Happy holidays!

Can someone please tell me that 5rwhp b/w PRC and AFR heads is more than a lil off I'd like to see Pat G's car make 500rwhp with those PRC heads in place of his 205 AFR's. If so, I'll order a set of them right now, got my credit card handy LOL Yes I know that they have been worked over too but they are a different design and if you got the extra money to spend whey not. Especially in a n/a setup where that extra bit will help allot more. Heads, IMO, are the most important. Doesn't matter what cam you stuff in unless its able to breath right. I'm not starting a pissing match and can't hold a candle to allot on here for experience but 5rwhp difference???? Another thing is, screw the dyno racing and thats one thing that some on this forrum get hung up on. Allot of times a car with a bit less max hp up top can beat the car in the race no prob due to power under the curve or a more better matched combo. I'd rather have a bit less of that 'dyno number' and have it shine throughout the entire rpm range. Allot more fun to drive on the street, never mind better performance at the track. So you know what I voted for.

Edit - Also, not knocking the PRC heads, the best bang for the buck head IMO, and wouldn't hesitate to buy them. I almsot did as a matter of fact but turned to FI instead. Boys at Texas Speed are awesome too!

I have Afr 205s and MS3. Numbers in Sig.
AFRs are very nice and worth the money.
But if you are in a little pinch the PRC heads are an awesome deal.
Every car I have seen with the PRC heads make great power, same for AFR too.
You may go with the PRC and use the $850 for FAST intake or any other supporting mods, or preventative mods such as rearend, tranny, clutch, suspension like that.

Yes you will have to flycut the pistons..to clear.

i picked the PRC 2.5 ls6 heads and cam just because you can take the extra 850 dollars and put it towards a good tune and maybe a little spray.

AFRs will get you better gas mileage too. So in essence they will pay for themselves. Ofcourse, it may take 100,000 miles.
