Default 06-07 LS7 cam in a LS1

Thinking about going with a stock 06-07 LS7 cam when I install my ported 5.3 heads on my 99 Z28. Just wanted to get some feedback if anybody else here has done that...I figured it would still have a semi-smooth idle that way and not lose a whole lot of low-end torque either. Thoughts?

This should bring some interesting comments. I suggest you compare the design of the LS7 heads to the LS1/6 cathedral port heads before making a cam decision.

I'm pretty sure the LS7 cam doesn't have the cam sensor provision on it. The cam sensor is in the front cover like the LS2's.

To add along these lines,

Look at cross section, runner size, and I/E flow ratio of the 2 different head styles, and the valve events they require for the power band you're looking for.

Now these are some interesting comments. More than I expected here. Keep thinking like that!

The reason I asked is because I have a chance to buy a stock LS7 cam CHEAP from a friend of mine who's having a custom cam done for his '06 Z06.
