You're fine to drive w/o any tuning... just don't go WOT or over 3000 rpms... I put 600 miles on my car w/o any tuning... I drove it to greensboro NC and back and around some to heat cycle the springs etc.

If you can setup an appointment to go get your tune after you do your cam install. What they mean is don't be putting thousands of miles on the motor without getting it tuned and definately don't go pounding on it. Driving it at highway speeds for about 170 miles should be fine for a 224. Also if your really worried about it, take your pcm to the tuner, tell them what you got and have them tune it. Then you won't have anything to worry about.

I will take the advice. I drove it today for about 80 miles. SES lights went out and all seems fine. I will garage it for now and get the tune done in the next few days.

Good info on rocker tightening procedure - thanks! When manually turning the motor at the crank, is it necessary to remove all the plugs? I know it should make it easier since the compression will escape through the plug hole, but is there any risk if just leaving them in? Thanks!
