Default which of these two is the better timing Kit...

the CompCams 7153 or the Rollmaster CS1140
both Companies claim that their Kit is the most reliable and has no clearance issues with timing cover and installation is a snap, is that true? read so much about double roller chains having problems with the timing cover....

I used spacers that came with mine for the oil pump but my timing cover fits fine and clears everything

I would look for one with a Torrington bearing and skip both of those. The cam plate gets a LOT of wear with aftermarket parts. AFR sells it.

Sets fitted with the Torrington bearing are marked 'T'. The LS1 sets do come fitted with the Torrington bearing supplied with the set . New Era Performance is an authorized distributor for JP Performance so all parts purchased come with a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty .

In stock for $99

I have had the Dual Rollmaster for a couple of years and did not have any problems.

The chain on the roll master stretches pretty good.We have had real good luck with the JP Performance piece.

I believe the JP is the one that AFR sells as well. I would focus on the Torrington as a requirement for any new timing set. The stock setup has some oiling issues.

I put a rollmaster in my previous car and had no issues, it did not have the torrington bearing.

this time i used the LS2 chain ($30 from sdpc2000.com-->) and the stock sprockets. it is a more heavy duty chain and requires no modifications at all...plus it's inexpensive.

I put a double roller rollmaster with torington bearing in my car. I spent time making sure I could slide a .002 feeler guage in around the oil pump and I really did not like how the oil pick up tube sat in the oil pump. I pulled it back out and went with the LS2. The LS2 has more play in it but with out removing the oil pan and readjusting the pick up it fits much better. I may have missed some tricks to getting the duble in there but there are alot of people running the LS2.
