Buy or Build LS1?

Buy or Build LS1? Basically what I want to do it either buy or build an ls1 for my camaro. The camaro is paid off and i have way to much in it to sell it now. not to mention its a 93 so it wont be worth much. The only way I would buy a 98+ is if I found one cheap. BUT seeing as you can get a complete ls1 w/ 6 spd on ebay for 5k with 35-50,000 miles. Thats alot less then I would be able to find a complete car for.
Now my question is: Would it be worth it to buy the stock ls1 or build one? I wouldnt be doing anything crazy besides cam, headers, exhause and CIA. Maybe turbo later down the line. But no spray or anything for me. If anyone has a list of everything I would need to completly build an LS1 internally and externally it would be nice seeing as I can get a pretty decent discound via GM since my dad works for em.
