I don't disagree, while not the absolute answer it is certainly a good indicator since designs are similar. I think where things get more difficult is when you bring in something like the Jesel that has the adjustment nut at the pushrod. The rocker may actually show no weight at the valve tip (I don't really know).

I've been searching for a comparison betwwen the exact 2 rockers for some time now also.
The YT may be a bit heavier over the tip but may also make the valvetrain more stable at very high rpms.
What is the net effect on HP. I will find out.
I will test this out in about a months time.
YT vs stock rockers on the dyno revving to about 7300 on a 346.
If the YT show the same power then I'm going with the roller tip for sure.
If the stock rockers show more power and the YT are causing some funkiness on the dyno at the high rpms, them I'm sticking with the stock.

Nobody said this. This is the source of your confusion - you have misinterpreted comments about weight at the tip.

Could you please clearly explain your position, talking in circles is of no benefit. I do not see where I misinterpreted anything. Weight is weight and the axis of rotation is a fixed value. Why is the tip end weight a 'useless measure'?

A rocker arm is an unequal beam with different measures from the axis of rotation for the pushrod side and valve side. One could add much more weight to the pushrod side and have very little impact on moment of inertia because of the much shorter distance from the axis to pushrod centerline. Add the same weight to the valve side and the affect to moment of inertia is much greater.

Well, I just ran into an issue with my Yella Terra's and they are going back to the vendor for a replacement set. Won't be taking measurements next week

I recently installed a set of 1.7 YT's in my LS1. I'm very interested in the results of this thread. Keep up the good work.

Apparently a few months ago several sets of rockers got through with the rocker bolt hole slightly too small (only 0.003" by my measurement). I spoke with Mike at New Era Performance and he told me to simply ship them back and they will provide a new set no problem.

Kudos to New Era, they stepped up and gave me a couple of options to fix the problem including replacement which is what I am going to do since my install is still a ways away. Great customer service!!!

This has become my favorite post. I think that I've learned more about rocker arm mass and inertia reading this than any other article that I've read. Good read! Thanks guys!
