Default Head ?

This has prolly been asked before, are the 853 heads better than the 806 heads. I bought a motor with 806 fully ported heads, on a 99 ls1 that came out a vet. Was just wondering if the heads would be ok since they have been ported.

As long as they have a good port job and not some botched DIY job they will be better. It also depends on how long ago the port work was done as to how good they are, b/c porting lsx heads has evolved quite a bit in the last few years.

From what I was told the ports are supposed to be better on the centerbolt heads, but I don't know how true that is. I've never seen any flow testing comparing them stock for stock.
