yea 50whp from AFR 225's to TFS 235's sounds a bit ridiculous to me also, though its obvious the 235's SHOULD out perform the 225's it shouldnt be that big of a difference.

To the OP the heads really depend on the application. if this motor is going into a truck, the L92 setup wouldnt be that bad of an Idea. They are more geared towards mid range tq rather than high RPM peak power. also consider the L92 truck intake manifold which is really geared towards tq production over the L76.

Absolute Speed 5.3's with a Moser 9" and 1 3/4 Jet Hots gave me 524/501.

theres a truck recently RCSB with this topend and only musted a 11.8 i believe...that is good time but should be way faster with a 408. [/B]

I think that truck is mine? One thing to consider for application is that my compression is 10.3 to 1. I drive to the track and bracket race all year long. That is why compression is so low. Consider that my truck with me weighs in at 4500 lbs, I think a 1.60 60' and 7.49 1.8th 91 mph and 11.899 1/4 is not to bad for my set up? My L92 heads are stock with just minor clean up on exhaust ports. If I could change my heads i would for sure have some worked over L92 heads. The thing I like for the setup I have is, that timing is not a issue. Up to 38 degrees with no knock. And 466rwhp on dyno. At the track I run 34 degrees. If done over I would still go with a set of L92 worked over.

The 11.899 pass is at the LSX Shootout with my 408 having only 100 miles on the engine. Not even broke in yet.....

^ nvm I found the answer they come with 70cc but do you guys keep them at that or mill them down? if so to what? I plan on running a big cam 250-260 duration with .640 - .650 lift. It's gonna be all motor too so im looking for the beefiest setup!

Don't forget to take a look at our Stage III CNC ported heads. We have several customers using these on the 402 and 408 motors.

Not clear what "AFR's ported" means. Tony Mamo opens up the bowls the way I understand it and the heads flow better, but the cost is outrageous. I think you are better off selling the 205's and buying the 225's outright.

for what its worth....

When I was looking at heads for my 5.0 years ago there was a back to back comparison between a set of TFS heads and AFRs. the TFS were 175s and were put up against a set of AFR 185s. They were almost identical in almost every aspect and the TFS gave up ~1hp.

I realize that they are different applications, but it could potentially reflect what hes claiming. they DEFINATELY outperformed the AFR 165s.

You cant beat the performance from AFR/ETP/TFS but alos you cant beat the price from
TSP PRC LS6 Heads or PRC LS3 heads

IMO if your not planning build it for boost or alot of Nitrous (300shot+) Then go with PRC Heads they're awesome a freind of mine made 500rwhp with PRC LS6 stg 2.5 I'm very sure stg 3 can make 20-25rwhp more.

Good luck.

We are now offering these Edelbrock 245's from WCCH. We can combine it with a custom ground Comp cam package as well to save a little money.
