Default Cam & rod bolt install question

This is probably a pretty n00bish question but I'm trying to get my cam install along with my valvetrain mods and rod bolts done as efficiently as possible. Alright, so I started taking apart the car for my cam install, also doing a ported oil pump, ls2 chain, rod bolts, etc. My main question is: After I take the oil pickup tube off and unbolt the pan, can I slide the pan out without dropping the k member and jacking up the engine? Or is the rod bolt job going to be another job entirely? I've had the pan off before so I know how to get it done, I'm just wondering if it would be easier (or even possible) to do them right in the middle of the cam swap, and save myself the lowering of the k member and jacking the engine. Hopefully I explained my question somewhat understandable

I am pretty sure you have to lower the k-member and/or raise the engine. But there is nothing stopping you from doing it during your cam swap anyway.

I would do it now. That way you can put the pickup tube back in the oil pump w/o pinching the o-ring. It will be alot easier to manipulate with the pan out of the way and the tube unbolted.

There's another reason to just do it all at once...Another thing I'm not sure of is if I'll even have room to do all the rod bolts without the k member dropped down a little....I've never had a good look at them before.
