How do you prep a cam for install?
Got me a new comp cam and wondering about what to do to prep the cam for install. Got some questions:
1. Should I clean the cam first? What solutions to use? I remember one issue of Chevy High Performance used just soap and water, it that ok?
2. What lubrican to coat the cam? Some Dino oil or gear oil?
Thanks
On the side note, I was swappping the LS1 valley cover on a 99 LS1 to the LS6 valley cover and found out that I don't need to cut the block. The part of the block I need to cut wasn't there!

Clean out the center of the cam (grime and sometimes even metal shavings are in there!), spray it down with brake cleaner if you want, and then oil it with normal motor oil.
That's it.
That's it.

Re: How do you prep a cam for install?
Oh yeah, one more question: After the bottom end is done, it will be sitting in the garage for at least 2 month untill the heads are done and I have the time to install the engine into the car. Should I worry about all the oil drip down into the pan and not on any mechanical parts?
thanks
