my heads are coming back off for new heads and cam swap hope to make nice power but i'm thinking of putting in comp r lifters and i want to stay with the same lenght pushrods since there like new. is comp r the same lenght lifter as stock lifters. i thought i heard someone on the board say there shorter. i'm not sure just want to make sure.

 

I'll answer this differently than how you want.

1) I'm not sure.

2) Comp R lifters call for less preload than stock lifters. Stock preload is .050 and R's call for zero lash to .020.

I just installed Comp R's in my car and CC said .002-.004 preload. Had to breakout a Dial Indicator to set them up for that small amount of preload. Here is what Sam from CC wrote me when I asked about the preload. "Set the valves to zero lash than put in a hair of a turn (.002 to .004 pre-load). " He was correct when he said a hair it was just a tiny bit of a turn to hit .003 on the DI.

 

True, some folks won't like how much noisier zero lash would be.

Just installed these is my car, I belive their at .10 preload. Came out nice.

 

I've got em...don't know the preload, but their chattery as hell.

 

I don't know the difference in size but I've got Comp R's with Jesel adj. rockers. We started at zero lash and went 1/16 - 1/8 of a turn past zero lash. This seemed to do the trick. Like Taspeed said, still noisy as hell.
