LS6 or thunder racing 224 cam?
I am putting this in a 4000 pound truck with a stock torque convertor and 3.55 gear. I use the truck to drive back and forth to work ect. Worried about the 224 being to big for the stock convertor and idling too aggressive in stop and go traffic. Oh yea it is a 6.0 with a 4l60e.

As a general rule, the more cubes you have the bigger the cam you can go without issues. I don't have any personal experience with the 6.0 but I would think the 224 is a pretty mild cam for it and should work ok.

I have the 2001 LS6 cam in my 6.0 in my 91 truck, stock stall 4l80. The heads are ported as well. It pulls hard to 6500 atleast. I also have 35's with 4.88's though. I think a 224 would be a bit much. I just picked up a 214/220 on a 111. I think the 111 will help keep the rpm band down. The problem with the LS6 cam is it's not really a torq cam with a 117 lobe sep. The LS6 cam isn't bad for a budget cam, but you can do better on a used cam around here. I would keep it between 210 and 220 personally if you daily drive and care about mileage and towing. If you just want a fast street truck then go 224 or bigger, but put a stall in it.

I'd be willing to bet the truck will pick up power off idle with that 224 cam over the stock cam and the ls6... my 226/226 patriot cam did with the stock converter. Go for the 224, that 6.0 will eat it up, and you will certainly be able to leave the stock idle speed as well if you'd like.
